About Us

Digital Native was founded by Nick Byrne to build things rather than advise on them. We make web platforms, infrastructure services, robotics systems and AI tools of our own, and we make them to be reliable on the first day and still maintainable years later.

There are several products in build at the moment. One is a consumer platform, arriving alongside a change in the rules of its market. Another is an infrastructure service for the people who run the internet's plumbing. We would rather introduce them when they are ready to be used than describe them while they are not.

Each one started with a problem we had watched people work around for too long. We are drawn to the ones where the answer is not obvious yet, and we stay with them until there is something real: people using it, and a market willing to pay for it. New technology earns its place when it makes something possible that was not possible before, not because it is new.

Our products run in a few different places: on the web, in the infrastructure underneath it, and out where software meets the physical world. What they have in common is that they run unattended and have to keep working for years. The standard is the same for all of them: fault tolerant, secure by design, observable, and no more complex than it needs to be. The technology is often new; the engineering discipline behind it is deliberately not.

The aim is a modest one, and harder than it sounds: build a small number of things properly, and keep them working.
